Peaceful

Today is a peaceful day. The weather is not too hot and I feel relaxed and at ease. The only thing that could make this day better would be hearing the sound of the ocean waves crashing onto the shore.  Posted by Picasa

No San Diego Afterall

Sadly, Myke and I didn't end up going to San Diego today. I think we'll wait for a cooler day and then head to the zoo there (my dad keeps on telling me it's a great place to visit).
Though we didn't check out San Diego, our day was full of fun! We saw "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" and had a nice, full lunch at the Soup Plantation (also known as Sweet Tomatoes).

Much love to my family/friends in TO. I'm thinking about you guys everyday!

Work the Rabbit

I like my new job. It's really busy right now so I've been working crazy hours but I feel it's worth it. I can't wait to facilitate. I love training!
Enought about that...
Myke and I are having an evening out so I must go...

Apples to Apples

Weekend Events:
-Analyzed the kids meal bag at Wendy's with Myke (this lasted for about an hour as it is very detailed and somewhat difficult)
-Hosted a fun dinner at our place on Saturday night. Myke made his famous lasagna and we beat our guests in Apples to Apples
-Visited the Hampton house for fun times and dinner

I start work tomorrow!! I'm really excited about it too. It'll be nice to interact with people throughout the day.

Mr. Golden Sun...please don't shine down on me!

Doesn't matter how much sunscreen I put on myself, I always end up getting burnt. I think the sun just really likes my pale skin. I guess I should be flattered that the sun gives me that much attention, huh?

I've had a nice couple of days. Yesterday was spent hanging out with Laird and doing girl like things such as changing our last names, watching "The Devil Wears Prada", and getting pedicures. The day before that was spent getting attacked by the sun at Newport Beach with Cherie and the family. Both days were equally fun!

Next up: Getting a new phone line and seeing that our oven is fixed.

The Melting Pot

Oh my goodness!!!
Myke and I had the yummiest dinner at The Melting Pot last night. It was amazing (especially the dessert).
I'll definitely try to save my money and go there again (it's kinda expensive).

Final Statement: Wow!!

Dress to Impress

I did it!! I got the job I wanted!!
Starting Monday I'll be a member of the employed club! Yeah!
I'm very excited right now!
This news will bring good to the Golden/Harrison household.

This Wednesday, I will be officially changing my last name. Very weird, but very fun!

And that's my news...

The knife that forked the spoon

Sometimes I love planning my weekends and sometimes I don't. This weekend I decided to be spontaneous and play everything by ear. Today, Myke and I hung around the apartment enjoying "Clerks" and Sarah Silverman's "Jesus is Magic" and then headed to Newport Beach. We watched the sunset and walked around the boardwalk. I find we have our best talks while walking.
Anyways, I'm excited to see what tomorrow brings.

Matlock vs. Jessica Fletcher

Matlock

  1. Ben Matlock is a VERY expensive criminal defense attorney who charges a $100,000 to take a case. Fortunately, he's worth every penny as he and his associates defend his clients by finding the REAL killer.
  2. Premiering in 1986, the TV series "Matlock" enjoyed a successful run until the year 1995
  3. Ben Matlock is a Georgia bred, Harvard educated defense attorney
  4. He is cantankerous and gruff and often uses colorful language, but beneath it all he has a heart of gold
  5. Ben's girlfriend is associate D.A. Julie March and his contact on the Atlanta police is Lt. Bob Brooks.

Jessica Fletcher

  1. Former substitute English teacher and famed mystery writer Jessica Fletcher has a gift for solving mysteries
  2. Sometimes, early in the series, Jessica would only narrate the episode, which would be a dramatization of one of her novels. In later seasons, Jessica moved to New York City to be closer to her publisher and also closer to crime.
  3. Jessica never drove a car. She always rode her bicycle or took a cab
  4. Premiered in 1984 and ended in 1996
  5. Jessica's late husband Frank was a bomber pilot in Korea

In my opinion, Jessica Fletcher wins!!

SVU vs. SUV

SUV:
  1. Most full-size SUVs have far greater towing capacities than conventional cars
  2. Women constitute more than half of SUV drivers, and SUVs are the most popular vehicle choice of women in the United States
  3. The higher profile allows for better visability and anticipation of danger
  4. SUVs are also used to explore off-road places otherwise unreachable by other vehicles

SVU:
  1. Created by Emmy Award-winning producer Dick Wolf
  2. Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay (need I say more?)
  3. The program has received numerous citations from community-based organizations for the social issues it tackles, and the cast members are frequently recognized for the work they do off-screen to promote personal health and safety and other volunteer efforts and initiatives.
  4. Best Tagline EVER:
In the criminal justice system, sexually-based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit. These are their stories.
SVU WINS THIS BATTLE!!!!

We are family!!!

The family.
We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.

Breaking in a pair of Vans

When I was in high school and University I was known for my vans (I owned around 5 pairs). Unfortunately, as time passed my vans wore out. I tried different shoes and styles after University and although they were great, they didn't compare to my Vans. Anyways, yesterday I saw a pair that I really liked and so I splurged and bought it! My feet are a little happier today as they are close again with an old friend.
Gotta love Vans!

"America" as sung by Neil Diamond

Fireworks can be scary when played with horrible American music (especially country tunes).
We (meaning Liana, Myke and myself) celebrated Independence Day at Dana Point on the beach. It was nice, though the people around us were annoying (and exceptionally young).
Unfortunately the 4th made us miss Canada even more.

I am NOT impressed with most of the people that live in Orange County right now!!
Being flighty and selfish are not great traits AT ALL!!
Just wanted to clear that up.

C'est La Vie

Liana is here!!! Yeah!!
Yesterday we took her to Laguna Beach and ate at this yummy restaurant called C'est La Vie (sooo good...thanks, Liana).
After dinner, we walked along the beach and watched the 10 feet waves crash onto the shore (very beautiful).
I had promised a fellow Canadian that I'd go to her Canada Day/Independence Day party, so we all headed to Irvine for that.

Today we are heading to Venice Beach in L.A. Can't wait!!

Surf City here I come!
