I woke up this morning to apple turnovers and a happy husband! I'm one lucky girl!

Every Saturday morning for the past couple of weeks I have lifted myself out of bed and headed to Yonge/Eglinton for my blue light face treatment. Apparently this light is suppose to diminish the bacteria on the second layer of my skin and help the pimples disappear. I'm not that confident that this will work though. I've tried many different acne treatments and the only thing that worked was Acutane (which I'm not going on ever again as it has horrible side effects). So, I'm left with stupid topical and hippy solutions. Why can't my skin just get the memo that we aren't in 1994 anymore?

Enough about that!

I might be going for tea this afternoon. I also might be heading to Barrie for some fun with Myke's friends (who I like a lot!). In the meantime, I'm having fun just listening to Myke play his guitar and watching Schmaty cuddle the couch.

I recently watched a HIMYM episode about doppelgängers and I assumed it was a made up expression. Apparently, I was wrong. I'm not sure if I've ever met or seen my look-a-like, but I am sure that there are people out there who are as bizarre as I am! The Opthamologist checked out my eye and said my problem was most likely linked to sinus trouble. So, I'll wait for my blood work results and then close the case of the hurt eye.

In other news, I'm trying to decide whether or not to drop my HR class. I've already miss one class due to health reasons and I'm about to miss another one due to a work commitment. I don't like being a quitter, but I'm not really sure if I can continue doing this if I'm busy with work stuff. Shouldn't my job come first? I do have to complete this certificate program before 2013 though. I guess I could always do a spring class.

I'm hating my upstairs neighbors more and more these days. They make it almost impossible for me to sleep in on the weekends and their stamping drives me CRAZY! Our lease ends on April 1st, so we might move out at that time. I've been looking at condos downtown and they are pretty amazing (and reasonable!). I guess I'll have to see what is available closer April.

Only a couple more weeks until Family Day. God, I love Canada!

I love taking it easy on the weekends.

I also love seeing family on the weekends. The only reason I insisted on moving back here was because of my family. I just feel so connected to them (even if I don't see them for weeks on end). I was lucky to be so close to so many people early in my life. I definitely value family because of this.

Things I hate: Reading boring HR books. I really want to finish my HR Management Certificate, but I really am not a school person. What to do...what to do...??

So, I have a medical predicament: My right eye has been hurting for the past 2-3 days and I'm not sure if it's just an ache or if it needs to be checked out. I'm sure people will recommend that I visit a Dr., but I hate waiting in line (i.e. 2-3 hours) to hear "you are fine. just take an Advil." Thoughts?

My friend Naomi introduced me to cleverbot and I must say that this program is truly amazing! It's not perfect, but it's definitely on the right track. My latest conversation has included a marriage proposal and life suggestions (including getting a dog to cure depression). I am seriously addicted and encourage everyone to try it. You'll definitely get a laugh out of her answers (yes, the program is a girl!).

In other news...I start school tomorrow night. I'm hoping to complete my HR Management Certificate in 2011. I'm hoping I can sit through a 3 hour course after an 8 hour day.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

It's always nice to kiss Myke when the clock strikes 12! We've spent way too many New Years apart over the years :(

New Years meant hanging out with Naomi, Adam, Becky and Tim. We spent the time chatting about family and watched a little "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "Family Guy" (which we've decided is overly sexist!).

On January 1st, Myke and I headed to St. Anne's spa for some much needed R&R. It was relaxing and nice to get away for the day. We had so much tea we had to pee every 10 minutes (or so it seemed). If I had a million dollars, I'd visit St. Anne's every week (and Myke would apparently get the hot stone wrap every visit...he loved it!).

All in all, 2010 is looking good. Of course, I am a sucker for even numbers!

Spa Time!

I've always wanted to do a weekend spa getaway and this weekend I made my wish come true! Spalotto.com is amazing! I found a super inexpensive spa vacation package and invited Ang and Naomi to join me. The package included all meals, tea time and wellness activities. I signed us up for the meditation and yoga activities (which were very relaxing) and ended up treating myself to a Swedish massage. The food and service were amazing at St. Anne's spa! They were accommodating and thoughtful. I seriously would love to visit again in the near future (dependent on money of course!).

Happy Chanukah!!!

Last night Myke and I went to a Hart Chanukah party and Naomi and Rose's bday party. It was definitely a fun-packed evening. I'm so lucky to have such a great extended family in TO! There were lots of highlights from the night, however I'm too tired to go into detail.

Oh and one more thing...Robin Hood was way funnier than I had anticipated. Good job, Ross Petty (and thanks, Nana!).

I completed my first week of work and am feeling a wide array of emotions. I'm thankful for this job, however I'm questioning whether or not it's the RIGHT position for me. It seems to be much more junior than I am use to. Also, my co-workers don't seem to be interested in training me or getting to know me. In fact, they seem more irritated by my arrival. I'm trying to remain positive as this is only week one. I really hope this job gets more challenging and the people start opening up. Here's to hoping and wishing...

I really can't complain about my upbringing. I had an easy childhood. My parents made sure they provided us with shelter, food, clothing and then some (as my parents always say "your smile is worth thousands of dollars). University came and I didn't have to struggle to make ends meet or take day jobs to pay my tuition. I truly was a lucky kid! Of course, there are other kids who are RIDICULOUSLY LUCKY (i.e. their parents buy them a house, cars, etc...). These kids typically have no sense of reality. They go through life thinking that things matter most and don't know how to overcome heartache and struggle all by themselves. Though I am not a big fan of this demographic, I find myself a tad bit jealous. I'd love to have enough money to travel, buy a house and continue my education. Hell, I'd even love some extra money to invest in bonds or mutual funds. Of course, I would hate to be dependent on my parents for the rest of my life (cause after all it's the parent's money). It's very important for kids to make goals and attain them on their own.

So, thank you, Mom and Dad. You are a great support system and I appreciate all the time, money and tears you put into me. I promise I won't let you down!! Oh and if you'd like to buy me a house, I won't blink ;)

Last night, Myke and I celebrated Ang's bday (note: her actual bday isn't until November) on a boat in TO! Now I've been known to get a bit sea-sick. Fortunately, Ang had these cool pressure point bracelets and was nice enough to lend me one for the remainder of the cruise. The cruise itself was full of crappy music (but in a funny way), Brazilians, family and friends. It was great to see Ang and Tom's family members/friends (it's been over 4 years since we last saw some of them). I also must share that I mistakenly used the men's bathroom 3 times throughout the evening. Oops!

All in all it was a nice way to celebrate Ang's 30th! Happy Birthday, Ang!

Opinions are a funny thing. Everyone has them! They come in different sizes and colors. I'd like to think that my opinions are well thought out, but that's not always the case. Sometimes I go along with others because I think they are smarter and more "worldly" and other times I go by ethics/morals/instincts (i.e. If someone sleeps with a baby, he/she should die a horrible death!). Though I might not necessarily agree with everyone's personal views, I do respect that they have opinions in the first place (that means the wheels are turning!).

This year I took part in 2 different Thanksgiving dinners. Both were full of family, food and good times. Unfortunately, I went a little too crazy in the dessert area (meaning...I ate too much!). My tummy is about to burst!

Good thing I have a bit of a break between Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I've decided that I am quite good at photographing animals (see pictures of Alfie below). Once I get a fancy camera, I might expand on my animal shots. In the meantime, I will continue taking a million shots of Schmaty (she is my muse).

I am 3 months shy of reaching my year of being unemployed. Let's hope for a job offer before January 10th!! Here's to hoping...

I'm tired of being me!

I think I want to be someone else for awhile. I'm sick of feeling like I'm adding nothing to the world (but garbage, of course). The new me would be active with different community projects, be more social and have a kick-ass job with kick-ass co-workers/managers. This way when I posted a blog, I would have more exciting things to talk about (instead of the typical "woe me" stuff).

That said, my life could be worse. I have a great husband, a nice apartment, great friends and family and a cat who lets me smother her. I'm not sure why that can't be enough, but it is just not filling the void.

In other news...my parents came in this weekend and we had a fun-filled family weekend. The events included an 85th birthday dinner for my grandmother, brunch at the Hart house (Hart family included!) and running around doing strange but needed errands.

On this day of atonement I apologize to those who I have hurt (that includes you, Schmaty!). Sometimes I can be abrupt and coarse and unintentionally hurt the ones I love. I also hold grudges on people who upset me. I can't promise that this will change though. I know that Yom Kippur suggests that I truly forgive and be forgiven, but I just can't. Does this make me less Jewish?

Update: I spoke to Naomi and she informed me that even the Torah holds grudges. Yay for Purim and Passover :) And thanks to Naomi for her kind words. What a great lady!

Though life has been interesting I find myself a bit down. I am still unemployed and I still am struggling to remain positive on life (note: my mood has a lot to do with being unemployed).

Lightning striking again, and again, and again and again!

The weather people got it right today! I've never witnessed that much lightning in Toronto my whole life! Holy Shit! Thankfully, I wasn't caught outside. At one point in the night, I heard a man scream. I hope he wasn't struck by lightning.

I still hear thunder in the distance. It looks like the storm clouds are set on making this week suck. Way to go mother nature!

This weekend we splurged and bought a mirror (we got a great deal at Canadian Tire) for our living room. It definitely opens up the room! Thanks to Myke for installing the very fickle and uneasy mirror! You rock (not the mirror, but Myke)!

In other news...I bought a new pair of glasses. They are sexy and I love them. I can't wait to have them in my hands in 2 weeks.

I hate Chinatown!

I've never been a fan of Chinatown. It's smelly, too crowded, and campy. I do however love asian food. I think my hell would involve being stuck in Chinatown alone with nothing to eat but spicy food!

Anyways, I had a nice outing with Naomi yesterday. We ate some Ethiopian food, walked around the city and watched some live music in Kensington. Adam's band, Youth Crime, was lots of fun! I really wish Myke would get out there and play live shows. It'd be a win-win situation as far as I'm concerned (i.e. he'd get more experience playing his music live and I'd get out of the house more)!

Tonight, I'm hanging in with the hubby. I'm making a yummy chicken bake (hopefully it won't be dry this time around) and we might just rent a movie or two.

Friendly expectations

I just realized that most of my facebook friends aren't really friends at all. I'd put most of them in the acquaintances category. Of course, with this realization, I feel like a bit of a loser. Why am I "friends" with these people if they aren't really my friends? Maybe it's cause I want to look popular or maybe it's cause I'm curious to see what they have become. Either way, it leaves me with an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach.

When I was younger I use to call everyone my "best friend." I was a bit of a "best friend" slut, I suppose! Since University I have realized that the term "best friend" is really stupid and elementary. What is a "best friend" anyways? I think the term gets misused a lot! I always thought a best friend was someone who you spend a great deal of time with and who you share your deepest and darkest secrets. So then what is a "close friend"? I think it's someone who knows you well (i.e. your quirks, likes/dislikes, etc...) and enjoys spending time with you. I guess that would mean that a "friend" is someone you enjoy seeing occasionally and knows you enough to feel comfortable around you (and you around them).

All this to say...I have a lot of "friends" who are border line "close friends." And the only person I know who matches the "best friend" definition is Myke.

Drifting in and out of sniffles

I've never been a fan of suburbs. I don't like being so far from a city. That said, I did enjoy my time in Barrie this weekend. We ate yummy food (thanks to Eryn for a kick-ass dessert!), went to Jeff's gig and played Rock Band until the wee hours of the morning. Of course, the next day was a write-off as I didn't go to sleep until 4 or 5 am.

I'm happy that we are back in Canada. We have lots more at our fingertips! I just wish my immediate family lived here. I miss them!

I use to love watching movies in a movie theatre. The smell of the popcorn, comfy reclining seats and the huge screen made me happy. These days though I get a knot in my stomach every time I see a movie in public. And the reason for this is plain and simple: I HATE THE AUDIENCE! They come in just when the movie starts, check their cell phones during the film and talk until the end credits come up on the screen. If people want to be assholes, they should just stay in and rent a movie! I am just amazed at how many stupid, selfish people there are in this world!! Ok, I'm getting myself worked up. I'll stop.

Oh, but one more thing...marriage should be a partnership. The man is no smarter or more amazing than the woman. They are equal! Got it??? Good!

Wow! Michael Jackson is dead! As Myke says, he was the Elvis of our generation. Crazy! I'm not going to put him up on a pedestal or anything as he had his flaws, but he was a very talented artist.

I heard a rumor that Michael left over 200 Beatles' songs to Paul McCartney in his will. We'll see how if that is true in a couple of days/week.

I have never been one to sit down and let life happen. I like to be proactive and plan. Of course, when things don't go to plan, I'm left feeling lost. I usually grow from these experiences however when they hit they hit me hard. I start re-evaluating life and second guessing everything. Right now I'm second guessing my move. I'm glad I moved to TO as I love it here, but I hate that I left a well paying job for no job. I am completely lost without work! I've never been good at school or hobbies, but I've always been kick-ass in my line of work. I enjoy being challenged in the work place and learning new programs, policies, etc... I am career focused and a 6 month lull isn't helping! I don't want to sound too negative as I am lucky in some respects (i.e. family, some good friends, etc...). I just wish I had something to look forward to and be happy about! Without a job I can't save for my Europe trip, go get my hair done, go out to dinners with friends/family and do other random and fun things.

In other news...I hate this recession!

Though the whether sucked, Montreal turned out to be a nice mini-vacation! Our hotel was located 10 minutes away from Old Montreal and downtown. Oh and I have to mention that our hotel was free (thank you credit card points!)! Myke and I had the chance to meet up with my cousin, Rachel. She made us a yummy greek dinner and then we headed to Rockaberry for some kick-ass pie (I like pie!).

This week I have to do some errands for Myke's 30th bday party. We are expecting around 15-20 people so I have to make sure we have enough plates, food, etc... I love hosting parties, though! I just hope other people have fun.

Job Update: None! Sadly, I haven't received any phone calls for a couple of weeks now. I'm beginning to think my only option is to go back to school (which I'm not too excited about). I'd really like to stay in the HR field, but if nothing comes up soonish I might have to rethink everything (maybe change to project management?). Here's to hoping things line up!

Going on month 4!

Eeek! I've been without a job for almost 4 months now. That's a long time! I've probably been to about 5 interviews and nothing has worked out. People keep on reminding me that it's a recession and the market sucks, but I can't help but take it personally. I've updated/changed my resume a total of 5 times in the past month and no one seems to be interested. What's a girl to do? I have played around with the idea of going back to school and working part-time. The only thing is that I'm not really great at school and it'd only be for a certificate (which is meant to be completed part-time anyways). My wonderful hubby believes that May will be my good luck month. I hope he's right!

I do have a couple of positive things happening in May to look forward to:

1. My parents are flying me into GA for a week

2. Myke is turning 30!! We will be holding a party at our new place.

3. Myke and I are going to the Melting Pot to celebrate our 3 year anniversary!

4. My grandmother bought Myke and I tickets to see "Jersey Boys" the end of May. She rocks!

So, I guess I can't completely complain, huh? My life could be way worse.

A month too late

Usually it takes me 2 months to find a job. Unfortunately, I'll be hitting the 3 month mark in April. Of course this has something to do with the recession, but still. I was really hoping for a new job before May. I'd hate to be unemployed very much longer. I'm going crazy!! I like being constantly busy. Here's to remaining positive!!

Weekend Recap: On Saturday, I hung out with Naomi, Adam, Rose, Noah and Myke. Rose made some kick-ass food (i.e. hummus and cornbread). A good time was had by all! Then on Sunday, Myke and I went to ikea and then out to see Monsters vs. Aliens. Very cute!

A lot has happened over the past few weeks. Sadly, my grandfather passed away a month ago. I'm glad I was able to spend some time with him before he died. Family means so much to me and I'm so lucky to have known both my grandfathers (and grandmothers, for that matter)!

I'm still looking for the perfect job. I've applied to quite a few, but the ones I've heard from were not the right fit. I'm trying to remain positive though. I'll give myself another month and then I might apply at the video store. We'll see...

In other news, Myke and I decided to move out of Nana's home and head to our old stomping ground. Our old building had an amazing 2 bedroom available and so we decided to splurge and rent it. It's not perfect, but it's lovely. Once I get a job, we'll buy a futon and desk for the second bedroom. Here are some pics of the new place:

Forever Frozen

Well, it's been a busy few days! The flight was a bit rocky, but alright. Schmaty did great (great=not dying or pooping/peeing in her carrier). Since we've landed I've been busy doing errands with my Dad. We had to cat proof the basement apartment as well (oh what fun!). I have a feeling this week is going to be exhausting. It definitely sucks having to run around and visit all the gov't agencies. I wish there was one place where you could do everything!

I leave for Toronto tomorrow morning (bright and early, I might add!)!! I can't believe it's finally happening. I'm seriously going to miss this weather. It's about 75 right now and sunny. I'm a little scared how my body is going to adjust to the cold. I haven't seen snow for a year and I haven't lived in a dark basement apartment EVER! Though I have many challenges ahead, I'm sure it will work out for the best. I'll have free health insurance (after the 3 month waiting period), be near family/friends and close to the most amazing restaurants (i.e. Licks, Harveys, The Keg, Springrolls, etc...). Here's to new experience!!

P.S. Congrats to Myke on his amazing job interview. No matter what happens, I am proud of you! Oh and you look fabulous in a suit.

After the sixth box, it hit me: I'm moving to Toronto next week!! I have so much to do in a short amount of time. Hopefully, this move will be better than the last ;)

Here are my goals for 2009:

1. Move to Toronto (check!)

2. Get a new job (working on it)

3. Go to Europe (though that might happen in 2010)

4. Save money towards Europe and/or house

5. Spending more time with my grandparents!

With the holiday season comes bubbles? Our apartment complex had a winter celebration the other night and decided to throw bubbles on everyones heads. Unfortunately, it fell on the food :( I had to quickly cover my cupcake and sushi. I think it'd be cool if it really snowed in SoCal. Of course, there would probably be accidents all over the roads.

My uncle mentioned to me that Canada is going to have an insanely cold winter this year. I can't wait to return to freezing temperatures (I'm being a bit sarcastic!). I seriously need to purchase long johns and boots.

Movie reviews: Benjamin Buttons was a bit long. The makeup was amazing though. Oh and Brad Pitt is super attractive.

I guess it's true what people say: "Home is where the heart is." After many talks, Myke and I have decided to relocate back to Toronto. California is a great place, however it's not a great place for us. I don't want to put Toronto on a pedestal, but it's definitely more in line with our needs/wants/goals than Orange County.

We will miss our OC family and friends.

Oh, and I'll miss the celeb sitings as well!

Myke and I just got back from seeing Sarah Silverman and friends (i.e. tv show co-workers, writers and sister) and it was MAGICAL!! The cast held a Q&A session at the end of the evening and I was one of the lucky ones who asked a question. I "borrowed' Myke's question ("How was Fucking Matt Damon?") and received quite a few laughs. Sarah explained that it was good and shared a story about a back dancer and The Shining (if you want the details, let me know). But my fave part came after the show ended. Myke and I were walking to our car (we parked behind The Largo) when we noticed the entire cast hanging out. Sarah recognized me from the Q&A period and said "Here's where you said I did a good job. Sarah...Dara...it rhymes!" I can't believe she remembered my name!! I feel so special. I wish I had stayed longer to chat. She's so random and lovely and I appreciate her brand of comedy. Here's to you, Sarah!

A fly in my eye!

Yesterday while Myke and I were livin it up in San Diego, a fly flew in my eye. I figured I got it out, but after a couple of hours my eye started hurting. When I went to clean it out a little fly (or maybe it was a nat?) appeared. How disgusting is that?? I'm hoping it didn't plant little baby bugs in my eye. Yuck!

Sorry if I'm sounding negative. Though it was a work trip, I managed to have 1:1 time with my beau. We had fun walking around town and eating (FYI--My picture is from the Petco Stadium where the Padres play).

Tonight, we are heading to Los Angeles to see Sarah Silverman. I'm going to shout out ridiculous things from the audience in hopes that she'll make fun of me!! I'm such a nerd.

I have to start by saying that I'm a big fan of holidays that incorporate yummy foods! Myke and I were planning on skipping turkey day to go to San Fran, but Myke fell under the weather and so we cancelled our plans. Luckily, The Smyth family called and invited us to their Thanksgiving celebration. Ronda made a delicious turkey meal (including mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc...)! Following dinner we headed to the movies where we saw "Role Models." It was a funny movie (funniest part: whispering eye!). It was a great day for our stomachs!!

Last week, Myke and I turned a boring work trip into a fun work trip! While I attended an HR Conference, Myke took it easy and enjoyed the peace and quiet. As soon as I completed my program, we headed off to downtown Coronado (it's in San Diego, for anyone who was wondering). We visited the Del Coronado (it's a haunted, amazingly huge hotel by the beach) and saw a play (The Light in the Piazza). Though we were extremely huge fans of Coronado, we felt this quaint place was reserved for a holiday and not a permanent home (though Myke argues it would be a nice location for a second home/cottage).

Up next: Yet another work trip :( This time I'll be heading to Phoenix without Myke. At least it's only for a couple of days.

I just got back from a week-long HR conference in Texas. Though I was working non-stop, it was nice to be out of California for a bit. I just wish I had more free time while I was in Texas. There's just so much to do in Dallas (yes, I'm being sarcastic!)!

Anyways, I'm back home and spending lots of time with my Mykie and cat. I have to admit that I'm a bit upset with my cat right now. She attacked my chest yesterday and now I'm swollen and sore :( I wish I had a dog (but don't tell Schmaty that)!

In other news...I saw "Religulous" this afternoon (see Myke's blog for details). I also discovered a yummy bakery in Irvine. They have yummy cakes!

Economy: The economy is scaring me right now. I'm afraid of what might happen to the world. Will the USA lose a lot of their world power? Will the USA become dependent on government help? These are the things that are going through my head.

Politics: I think Obama and McCain are both smart. Though I don't agree with many republican policies/values, I do recognize that McCain is a good leader and stands up for what he believes. With that said, I will be voting for Mr. O! He better represents my views (though apparently not on same-sex marriage or abortion).

Life: I'm stressed, but happy right now. I've recently discovered Lactaid and vegan dinner dishes. My stomach is so proud of me (and so is my mom!).

Bitch Moment 2008: Sometimes I feel like I live in the 1950s. I'm really not sure why I live in such a conservative place when I'm such a liberal girl. I just don't see eye to eye with the majority of people who live here. I'm not saying I dislike everyone here, but I just don't share the same values. It's sad actually :( I so desperately want to be in a place where people value change and differences.

Taking out coke and meat has done wonders for my diet! I've lost 5 lbs in one week! My stomach isn't 100% better but it's getting there. I just hope that I don't have to limit my diet forever. Stupid gastro problems!

I had a really nice talk with my brother a couple of days ago. It's funny how he is envious of my lifestyle. I wish I had the balls to pick up and travel some place. It doesn't always pay to be the responsible child.

I'm really hoping to travel to Europe in 2009/2010. I hope it happens!

Today I experienced my first earthquake! It was quick, but scary. I really didn't know it was an earthquake until 7 seconds in. As fate would have it, my whole team was away and I was all by myself. I scrambled to find someone on the other side of the floor who had some insight on what was going on. By the time I got to a "safe" place it was over. I immediately rushed to the phone. Of course, everyone else had the same idea and because of this the phone lines were down for a good 15-20 minutes. Twenty minutes later, I got through to Myke and my parents. Myke explained he had been driving and didn't feel a thing (he's very disappointed about this for some reason).

When we got home we noticed some pictures and books had fallen. Our cat is on high alert as the earthquake scared the shit out of her!

I really hope this is the biggest earthquake I'll be present for. It scares me that the earth is moving so frequently. Let's just hope that California doesn't sink during the next earthquake!

When Myke first mentioned that The Flight of the Conchords were playing at the Largo, I immediately got excited. We put our names in and then two seconds later the show was sold out. Thankfully, we got tickets in time. Initially I thought this was an all Flight concert, but was later told that they were only one of the acts (Jon Brion ended up being the opener). A comedian by the name of Greg Proops was the main act He was incredibly witty and smart. I loved his stand up routine! After his act was through, he turned the stage over to Flight. Brett and Jemaine were oh so charming. I thought it was interesting that Jemaine pretty much stayed in character, but Brett was laughing and smiling the whole time (see picture as reference). As far as songs go, they started with a song I never heard about ex-girlfriends. Jemaine messed up half way in, but later finished the song at the end of the set (side note: Myke and I aren't sure if this was intentional or not). The only song I recognized was "the humans are dead", but that didn't take away from the night. At the end of the show, Jon Brion, Brett and Jemaine sang a little song together. It was funny to see their reaction to Jon Brion. It's very clear that he is a talented guy. All in all, I very much enjoyed the show last night. I only wish that they extended it until the wee hours of the morning (Oh and I also wish they would've let us take pictures). One more thing...Jemaine is a lot skinnier than on the show. I guess the camera does add 20 lbs!

Myke and I both had today off! We woke up, ate turkey bacon (which isn't agreeing with Myke's stomach), took a nap, ate lunch and went grocery shopping. Boring but nice!

We celebrated July 4th with our friends Laird and Harrison and their baby, Oliver. We all headed to Newport Beach where we watched 3 different firework displays. It seems as though fireworks have become way more elaborate in the 21st century. While we were walking to our car, we noticed a drunk woman walking with her husband and teenage daughter. I would be so embarrased if I was the woman. I can't believe someone would allow themselves to get drunk in front of their kids. Stupid people!

I'm sure I've blogged about this before, but Myke makes the best lasagna EVER (even if it includes ground turkey instead of beef). It's really too bad that we can't eat lasagna every day! Of course, if we did I think we'd be very very big.

We saw "Get Smart" last night. It was cute and entertaining. I thought they did a good job casting Steve Carrell as Max Smart. Oh and I love The Rock (he has such a nice smile!).

I am not an easy going person by nature. I am anxious and uptight. I am overly organized and terribly judgemental. I hate being told what to think, say and do. I am not a follower. I love being around people. I do not, however, like to be in situations where I have to be around people I don't know. Family is very important to me. I am happy to be a woman. Though women are built differently than men, I believe they are equal. I do not like women stereotypes (i.e. women love shopping, can't wait to stop working and have kids, etc...). I enjoy breakfast foods for dinner and dinner foods for breakfast. I love my cat, but no others. I hate driving, but love old cars. I get bored very easily. I value my relationships. I love random acts of kindness. My bark is worse than my bite. I don't mind the snow. I love Canada. I'm not a big fan of suburbs. I've never been to Europe (though I plan to go there soon). I get excited when I find out someone is a Jewish Canadian. I don't relate to religious people (I'm talking fundamentalists). My fave number is 7. I love green/blue eyes. My husband is my best friend.

Last night, I celebrated my 27th birthday at Katana in LA. Even though my actual birthday isn't until Tuesday, I felt like the birthday girl. My friend from work hooked me up with a reservation at Katana (a posh sushi restaurant in LA). The general manager came out to give us free shots at the beginning (oh and he also covered the deserts)! Talk about getting the royal treatment. We really had a great time. The food was amazing (Myke even tried some fish dishes!). We also had a celeb citing. The Girls Next Door (i.e. Hugh Hefner's girlfriends) made an appearance. I tried to get a picture, but Kendra blew me off. What a rude person. Oh well. It's not like any of them have brains...I mean, they are having sex with a 70-something man and they are in their early 20's. Pretty nasty :(

Oh and they dress like hookers.

Am I an idiot for watching the MTV Movie Awards? I'm almost 27 years old and I still watch MTV (and VH1 at that). I'm not sure if it's the horrible music or the lack of talent, but I seem to be attracted to crappy music tv. In fact, whenever I'm in Canada, I make it a point to turn on Much Music. Maybe my 30th birthday will smack some sense into me! I'm not sure how much more Flavor of Love and Tila Tequila Myke can take (he's the best husband, by the way!)!

California just became the second State to legalize same-sex marriage! It's about freakin time! This should've happened years ago! I'm sure there will be a million groups appealing, but for now I'm very impressed with this State. I'm also happy for all the couples that will now get to have a traditional wedding. This is definitely a giant step in the right direction (in my opinion, of course).

The College Conference is over!!! Now I can spend all my time daydreaming about my upcoming vacation. Yeah for vacations!!

This weekend I'll be hanging out with my hubby. He's been working a lot so we haven't been able to really hang out. He is bringing home awesome turkey bacon these days though!! Yeah for commission!

I discovered I have an old SEFTY friend living less than 15 minutes away from me. I still get excited whenever I hear that someone was in or knows of SEFTY. Makes me think of the "good 'ol days." Actually, these days are great too. I have a loving husband and cat (though she gave me a little bite yesterday) and nice friends.

I'm so happy The Office is back on the air. Oh, how I missed it! I'm thankful the writer's strike is over and done with.

In other news...I started Jenny Craig yesterday. I'm finding it's hard to be on a diet. I am really not use to drinking milk in the morning, eating anytime bars (they are disgusting, by the way!) and snacking on veggies without dip or peanut butter. I've committed myself to Jenny's food for 2 weeks and will reevaluate after that point. Wish me luck!

It's always exciting when you find out good news. For example, Myke and I filed our tax return and it looks like we are getting back a nice chunk of change. If that wasn't good enough, we just found out that we almost have enough Thank You points (you earn these on your Master Card) for two free flights to anywhere in the US or Canada. I had a rough couple of days at work. Things picked up at the very end though. I'm happy to have today off though. I need it!

I'm not sure why all these young celebs are using drugs. When I heard that Heath Ledger died I was both sad and not completely shocked. Like every twenty-something in Hollywood, drug dependency is a way of life. I'm curious though, is there nothing else that they can spend their time and money on? I recommend the Wii or hanging out with friends and family. The saying goes that "bad things come in three." If that's the case, I'm both interested and scared to see who dies next. Hopefully, it won't involve drugs.

I've been wanting to go to Europe for all of my adult life. My goal was to get there before 2009, however I'm not sure if that's going to happen (it might be closer to 2011). That said, I still have some trips to look forward to. Myke and I are heading to Mexico (on a cruise) in May with my parents and I might be going to Puerto Rico with my dad (plans are still pending). Honestly, I just want to go somewhere. Of course, 2 trips for 2008 is not enough. Myke and I are planning to visit TO (prefer. during the winter...gotta love the snow) and possibly San Fran again. I'm going to SLO on business in a couple of weeks and Myke and I are making a weekend of it. Should be fun.

Ring, ring, ring...2008? 2008!!

Myke woke me up at 11:40pm so that I could ring in the New Year with him. Though I was completely out of it, I enjoyed kissing at 12! Of course, as soon as that was over I headed back into bed.
